3 DAYS HIKING HOMESTAYS, & NAM OU RIVER / NKTC-3 / GL 1066
Nong Khiaw and the nearby Muang Ngoi village are two small riverside communities famous for their undeveloped and stunning mountainous scenery on the Nam Ou River.
On this tour you’ll hike two days through jungle and mountains to homestay at traditional Hmong, Lao Leum, and Khmu villages. A must do while in the area, days 2 and 3 we’ll explore the river and its local village life by boat as we cruise up and down to a homestay in a beautiful village on its banks, to hike to local caves, and to refresh in nearby waterfalls on this perfect Nong Khiaw trek and river explorer.
Journey Insight
Be sure to bring sturdy hiking shoes as the trails can be technical and slippery with rain.
* The waterfall is normally flowing Sept. to Dec.
Day 1 is 8.5 km, medium-level trekking normally taking about 6 hours.
Day 2 is 7 km, medium-level hiking normally taking about 5 hours
Day 3 is light trekking to the waterfall and the cave.
Trail conditions and hiking times can increase if there is rain.

Explore nature, Lao cultures, villages, mountain trails & waterfall in Nong Khiaw, Laos.
After a short ride we start walking small paths past rice paddies and through preserved forest with huge trees and great views and sneaking between high-rising mountains. Colorful rice fields (seasonal) and gardens guide our way through this amazing scenery. We enjoy lunch in the jungle setting and make stops along the way.
