Day 1
Your arrival in Phonsavan
Start tour plain of Jars 1
More than 90 jar sites have been identified in Xiengkhouang Province. Each site has from one to 400 stone jars.
The jars vary in height and diameter between 1 m and 3 m and are all Hewn from rock

Day 2 (Option One)

Visit Plain of Jars 2 & 3
Jar Site 2 features two clusters of jars. Most visitors go first to the cluster on the left after you climb over the stile.
There are stone steps leading up from the path into a wooded area on top of a hill where the jars are located
It is also possible to hike from jars 2 site to jars site 3 ,,also recommended to use a guide while doing the hike
Old Capital Wat Pia Watt Statue
Once the Royal seat of Phuan Kingdom in the 14th century, and more recently the provincial capital during French colonial times, prosperous Muang Khoun was renowned for its lavish stupas and temples before suffering a series of attacks.
That Foun the Stupa
That Foun was built in 1576 and housed a treasure trove until those pesky Chinese invaders burrowed in and plundered it.
It was rebuilt after the war .
French Ruins
Ruins of French hospital in Muang Khoun, former capital of Xieng Khuang province, destroyed by US bombing in the late 1960s.
The Noodle Village
While on the road to Muang khoun we have a stop at the noodle village , as the villagers prepare their daily portion of fresh noodles ,they will show you the process of making them
Day 2 Tour Option 2
Start 8 am same as the 1st Option
Visit the Ethnic group Hmong , the Hmong are the biggest ethnic group living in Xieng Khouang province (25%) the local Shaman will talk about her life during our visit.
Ethnic group Thai Dam , we will have a taste of the beautiful woven textiles done by the the women of the village
The Tam Piew Cave in Muang Kham
On 24 November 1968, at the height of the Secret War, a US fighter plane fired rockets into a cave used by farmers from the surrounding villages for shelter.
The first three rockets missed, but the fourth hit, killing all 374 men, women and children who were sheltering within the cave.
MAG office (Mining Advisory Group) open till 9pm
Association and information center ,who gives you a look inside the history of Xieng khouang province and the actual days ,where people are still confronted with the danger of the UXO on the fields
Possible to see documentaries on the first floor(3x20 minutes)
Day 3 before departure
- Visit the MAG office (1 hour visit)
- Visit the Mulberry farm (1 hour 30 visit ) closed on Sunday
- Visit the Provincial Museum (1 hour 30 visit ) closed on Monday
- Hike the Phou Ken mountain (query site ,site 21 )(2 hours visit)
Both options can be combined depending on the time of departure at the airport/ at an additional charge
