This eco volunteering program is your gateway to feeling like a part of the Elephant Conservation team! It will give you a more in-depth insight into what it takes to look after elephants.

During the week, you will share in the life of our staff and learn more about the Lao culture.

You may even pick up a bit of Lao language! You will start by following our 3 day ‘Exploration’ program. Then you will be asked to assist us in the Center’s development by participating in current projects on site.

During your visit at the Center you will spend a lot of time walking through our protected area. The area is forested and might not always be accessible without you getting dirty. Activities in the forest vary during the rainy season between May and September.

You will be guided by a local English speaking guide and international experts.

After crossing the mighty Mekong, your guide will begin by
introducing the team, the sanctuary, its mission and initiatives towards animal welfare. Visitors will also be given
an in- depth presentation of our elephants, explain their very own story, their family ties without forgetting to
hear about the special bonds they all individually share with their mahout.

Enter the pure primary forest and meet the elephants in their natural habitat. At the
Mekong Elephant Park, we do not allow physical interactions between visitors and the elephants. We
encourage passive observation as believe we are the invitees to their world, their environment and wish to just
let them be.

The elephant heard day tour is a continuation of half day tour elephant wonders. After lunch, the continuity of tour goes as follows:

after a well deserved lunch, your guide will instruct you on the days activity which can range from, making vitamins balls, to picking fruits and vegetables for the elephants, to trekking the surroundings and admiring the Mekong views.

stroll through the compound and meet our craftsmen Mr. Kam the black smith, Ms. Mee, the weaver and Mr. Mong, the bamboo specialist. you will be fascinated by their expertise, their unique handicrafts with the creation of articles that each have their story ( and which you could even choose to bring home!)

Half day getting to know the Elephants and their habits close to the Mekong river, Pakbeng

Laos Buffalo Dairy, Cheese making, ice cream, an afternoon Visit well worth the trip and enjoy the gourmet food

3 Days 2 nights at the ECC learning all about the Asian Elephants in the wild, once in a life time experience!

By joining our Exploration programme you will fully experience the peaceful and beautiful world of the Asian elephant.

Not only will you enjoy a relaxing stay in the Nam Tien protected area but you will also learn all you want to know about Asia’s most iconic creature!

You will receive expert information about the condition of the Asian elephant, its biology, cultural importance and the challenges of the Center.

This is one great experience down on the Buffalo Dairy farm in Luang prabang, enjoy and learn the community experience they have created.

you will feed the buffalos what and experience being up close with these gentle giants, Milking a buffalo you hear that right, and giving the buffalo a bath something new for sure!

don't forget the playful pigs and galloping goats and the rabbit warren!

Nothing hard or difficult here just a fun filled adventure!

This is a 35 kilometer bike ride on mostly paved roads winding through jungle and rice paddies.

The highlights include elephant interactions on the beautiful banks of the Nam Khan River, Wat Pa Phon Phao temple,

visit to Henri Mouhot’s tomb on the banks of the river, and swimming at the Tad Sae Waterfall (seasonal) or take a short jungle walk to see a baby elephant in the jungle.

walking Difficulty Chart: cycling and kayaking

Duration: 1 Day

Start / Finish : Luang prabang

The “Small Chili” is perfect for medium biking, mixed paved and dirt road along the Mekong, Nam Xuang, and Nam Khan Rivers through jungle and villages.

You'll ride from city center out of town and through diverse countryside seeing villages along the Mekong River, jungle covered mountains, and villages amongst vast rice paddies worked by hill tribe villages.

We’ll meet early morning to size up on our quality mountain bikes and then ride out of town heading north along the Mekong River.  After crossing the old communist bridge, make a stop to visit Xieng Lek Village, famous for its mulberry paper and weaving.  Next, turn up the Nam Xuang River going past villages and beautiful countryside scenery. The pavement ends and it’s then off-road into the countryside up and down hills past rice paddies and local villages.

We'll ride through vast rice paddies and jungle dotted with Lao Leum, Hmong, and Khmu villages with locals tending to the daily activities of Lao agrarian life. The last leg of today's ride will take us along the Nam Khan River.
